To abstract your eye from what would otherwise be viewed as mundane can aid in the greater understanding of the most simplistic of topics. The drum skin offers a study of shape, texture and form otherwise unexplored to the drummers themselves.
These drums came about at the end of their music value. Discarded by the drummers, they had left their personal impressions onto these skins. As every drummer is different, the marks they leave are a reflection of whom they are, and how they play their instrument. Portraits, without ever knowing who these people are. |
